Caladiums

I love caladiums! Always have but couldn't always have them. Well, now I have plenty of shade and today they seem to tolerate sun. I have planted them everywhere. I asked several other gardeners if they liked them all one color in a bed or different ones planted all together.
Of course, I got many different answers. So, I bought 2 big boxes of bulbs from Sam's nearly 100 bulbs and just started planting
I counted a few weeks ago and had 68 of them that have come up. I blamed the squirrels for stealing them, but I have had many more come up since my count. I guess some are just slow to put in an apperance
That's my puppy kid Eddie, in the picture above. He didn't care about caladiums one way or the other. He's an old guy, about 13 or 14 that I rescued in 2003. His brother is around somewhere.
Lilies are coming up also.
We have several other projects in the works but I will post about them when I can show befores and afters. I am linked in with Tootsie for Fertilizer Friday http://www.tootsietime.com/

Happy Memorial Day and I hope everyone gets a long weekend! I do and intend to enjoy it!

  5. I love Caladiums...they are very expensive here and I tend to not buy them but enjoy seeing them in others gardens. I know I should just buy bulbs as they are more cost effective. Yours are beautiful! My hubbie always comments on how he likes the colors...I should bite the bullet and go buy some for my window boxes! Thanks for the inspiration!

  6. Your caladiums are very beautiful, as is Eddie the dog! I have grown them in containers in the past, but just didn't get around to buying bulbs this year--I want to for next year.
