I love caladiums! Always have but couldn't always have them. Well, now I have plenty of shade and today they seem to tolerate sun. I have planted them everywhere. I asked several other gardeners if they liked them all one color in a bed or different ones planted all together.
Of course, I got many different answers. So, I bought 2 big boxes of bulbs from Sam's nearly 100 bulbs and just started planting
I counted a few weeks ago and had 68 of them that have come up. I blamed the squirrels for stealing them, but I have had many more come up since my count. I guess some are just slow to put in an apperance
That's my puppy kid Eddie, in the picture above. He didn't care about caladiums one way or the other. He's an old guy, about 13 or 14 that I rescued in 2003. His brother is around somewhere.
Lilies are coming up also.
We have several other projects in the works but I will post about them when I can show befores and afters. I am linked in with Tootsie for Fertilizer Friday

Happy Memorial Day and I hope everyone gets a long weekend! I do and intend to enjoy it!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and if you are a mom, Happy Mother's Day.

Hitting the 50% off rack!

Lately our local home/garden center has been having huge 50% sales on plants. One weekend every plant in the store was 50% off! They have over ordered and can't sell them quick enough. Today I got several plants, a Coralbells, 2 ferns and a tray of impatiens. They were all in great shape-the coral bells were just really dry:
Here they are planted. The 2 ferns
The coral bells went in next to the gazebo. I was standing in it when I took this picture, after giving her a good soaking:
The impatiens were used to fill in some spots in the new bed in the front:
It is so great to get plants on sale! Hope they all make it! Have a great day and God bless!

How my garden grows, May 2012

We had really been worried about the Magnolia tree thanks to last year's drought. But it is looking much better and even has a few blooms
I just kind of fiddled around the gazebo and created some beds with some brick that were already there. Earlier this spring I had planted some Caladiums, and a few are coming up, but I think the squirrels have robbed some. I had a few of the bulbs left so I stuck them in there too. Hopefully, they won't be stolen.
You can see the hose for the drip system hubbie added along the bottom of the gazebo last year. He does really good with that stuff and keeps me from having to water all the time. We also have it set on a timer, so we can go on trips and not worry. You can see the timer on the faucet in this picture
That and weed control fabric and mulch really cut down on the work once you get a bed all put together. We put drip hose in the flower beds and the veggie garden and hook them all to timers. Our veggie garden would not have made it last year if not for that. Here's a few pictures of the garden. We have baby squash, peppers and tomaoes. Very exciting!
and here's something sweet to finish up today's post. My son and his sweet baby girl Emma Leigh. She is so much like him it's scary. So sweet
Ok, well one more. My daughter with my son's older daughter, Baliegh Elizabeth. To me, Bay looks like she could be Lisa's daughter, not her niece
Some of my pictures didn't load for some reason! Anyway, have a great day, and God Bess!

Mississippi Visit, May 2012

Had a great visit with my kids and grands last weekend. Was also nice to see the area I grew up in. Of course, Nana had a project for the kids to make. I bought some little bird houses and some paint and stickers. They made one for me and one for their Moms for Mothers Day. Here are some pictures of all the fun!
